FORT MYERS, Fla. – Florida Gulf Coast softball head coach Lindsay Fico announced Makayla Jakubuwski as the seventh signee out of the 2026 transfer portal on Monday.

"Makayla is a special addition to our program and we are excited to have her continue her journey right here at FGCU," Fico said. "We've watched her compete and grow as a player at FSW and look forward to her contributions as an Eagle."

Jakubuwski slashed .349/.401/.411 over two years at FSW, and reached base at a .423 clip with just five strikeouts in 2026. She recorded 42 RBIs on 45 hits, and scored 23 runs. She tallied four multi-hit games as a sophomore, including a 13-game on-base streak that spanned from mid-April to May. The Fort Myers native helped FSW to a 57-7 record and NJCAA World Series semifinal appearance.

In high school, she won a 2A State Championship in 2023 at Evangelical Christian HS. As a senior, she hit .505 with 11 doubles and nine triples while driving in 41 runs. She played club for coach Scott Peratoni at Rock Gold.

Academically, she was named to the Dean's List at FSW and the 2025 FCSAA All-Academic Team. The daughter of Danny and Lisa Jakubuwski, Makayla has an older brother, Zach.
