FORT MYERS, Fla. – Florida Gulf Coast men's basketball head coach
Pat Chambers announced the signing of Bryson Lucas on Friday to open the 2026 portal class.
"Bryson is a proven winner and fierce competitor who played a key role in a conference championship last season," Chambers said. "A true three-level scorer, he brings defensive versatility across multiple positions. His impact will be felt immediately, and we're thrilled to welcome him to our program."

Lucas averaged 35.3 minutes per game in 2025-26 with Cal U (PA). He led the Vulcans to a 23-9 record and PSAC Tournament Championship, besting the eventual Division II national champions in Gannon. Lucas played all 40 minutes in the conference championship game and posted an 11 point, 11 rebound double-double.Â
Lucas shot 49.4% from the field, 31.2% from 3-point range and 72.5% from the free throw line in 2025-26. In his last year with the Vulcans, he averaged nearly a double-double per game, scoring 17.2 points and pulling down 9.8 rebounds per game. He tallied a season-high 33 points against Fayetteville State and a season-high 17 rebounds against Charleston (WV). Lucas scored in double-digits 27 times in 32 games played, including two 30-point games and ten 20-point games. He notched 14 point-rebound double-doubles, and set season highs with nine assists, five steals and four blocks, all on multiple occasions. Lucas played all 40 minutes five times for the Vulcans in 2025-26.
For his career at Cal U, he was named the PSAC West Defensive Athlete of the Year during the 2023-24 season in which he averaged 1.8 steals and 1.1 blocks per game. He totaled 1,186 points, 653 rebounds, 235 assists, 166 steals and 104 blocks.
The son of Antoine and Christy Lucas, Bryson has five siblings – three brothers and two sisters.
