Chambers inks Sermpezis for 2026-27

FORT MYERS, Fla. – Florida Gulf Coast men's basketball head coach Pat Chambers announced the signing of Nikolas Sermpezis on Friday to continue the 2026 portal class.

"Nikolas is an elite young talent from Germany with a relentless passion for the game and a dynamic, versatile skill set," assistant coach DJ Irving said. "At 6'6, he's a true three-level scorer, a high-IQ decision-maker, and, most importantly, a fierce competitor who impacts winning.

"We're thrilled to welcome Niko to the FGCU family. He brings a rare level of maturity and professionalism that will elevate our program on the court and make a strong impact in the community."

Sermpezis comes to FGCU from FC Bayern Basketball. In the 2025-26 NBBL season, he averaged 28.5 points per game on 59.6% shooting from the field and 39.1% shooting from 3-point range in 24.8 minutes per game, leading the NBBL in scoring. He also grabbed 5.0 rebounds, dished out 5.3 assists and recorded 1.8 steals per game in NBBL action. 

When playing in the ProB league, he averaged 19.2 points per game on 52.6% shooting from the field. He added 4.3 rebounds, 2.0 steals and 1.3 assists in 27.0 minutes per game at the ProB level, and ranked 10th in that league in scoring. At the 2025 Adidas Next Gen Tournament, he scored 20.5 points per game, and averaged 4.0 assists and rebounds, along with 2.2 steals per game.

Of Greek descent, Sermpezis played with the Greek youth National Team in U16 and U18 in Eurobasket 2023 and 2025, respectively.
