JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – FGCU received a pair of postseason awards as the Atlantic Sun Conference announced its 2026 Men's Tennis All-Conference teams on Monday.
Tanner Povey received second team honors, while
Stefan Correa's All-Freshman Team honor marks the third consecutive year an Eagle has been placed on the ASUN All-Freshman Team.
Povey finished the regular season in singles with a 10-15 record, going 5-10 in dual match play. He went 1-2 against nationally ranked opponents, including a 7-6 (7-5), 2-6, 6-4 win over No. 106 Veljko Krstic of Elon. He also recorded key wins over Stetson's Xavier Sarda Marti, 6-4, 2-6, 11-9, and Louisiana's Mason Landreth, 7-6 (7-5), 6-4. In doubles, Povey went 8-15 on the year, recording key wins over St. John's Armando Sotelo and Taichi Wakamatsu, 6-2, and Bucknell's Oscar Bain and Adam Stavrakas, 6-3.
Correa posted an 11-8 singles record during the regular season with a 6-4 mark during match play. The rookie played across singles Nos. 3-6 and went 3-1 in 10-point tiebreakers. He won five straight singles matches across late Feb. and early Mar., and recorded a big win over South Florida's Maximillian Mraz, 4-6, 7-5, 10-5. Correa also posted big wins over St. John's Wakamatsu. 6-4, 6-2, and Utah State's Eemil Pasanen, 6-0, 6-2. In doubles action, Correa posted an 8-12 mark with a 4-7 record in dual match play. He won both matches in which he faced an ASUN opponent.
In addition to the honors earned by Povey and Correa, FGCU placed five guys on the Academic All-ASUN Team:
Mika Bunjes,
Stavros Hadjivarnava,
Gustav Hasslegren,
Pablo Paternostro and
CJ Smith.
Povey, Correa and the rest of the Eagles open ASUN Tournament play on Wednesday at 9 a.m. when FGCU hosts Eastern Kentucky in the quarterfinal round at the FGCU Tennis Complex.
