CARROLLTON, Ga. – Florida Gulf Coast softball (14-23, 8-4 ASUN) will continue its April road trip with a series at West Georgia (11-30, 3-9), beginning at 1 p.m. on Saturday, April 11.
FGCU reaches the weekend off its first series loss in conference play, dropping two of three games at Jacksonville. The Eagles went 8-4 in the first half of conference play, sweeping Queens and taking the series from Stetson and North Florida. A return trip to Stetson, along with home rematches with JU and Queens, join the West Georgia series as conference games remaining on FGCU's slate.
Sietske Drijvers has led FGCU at the plate in 2026, hitting .309 with nine doubles and 20 runs scored, and carries a 16-game on-base streak into the weekend series.
Mackenzie Leiti and
Kiki Daniels each have six home runs; Leiti has a team-best 22 RBI. In the circle,
Grace Taylor holds a 4.30 ERA and
Julia Bacoulis has tallied 60 strikeouts. Drijvers ranks second in the conference and 20th nationally with 10 runners caught stealing. Bacoulis' 26 pitching appearances and two saves each lead the ASUN.
The Wolves head into the homestand at 11-30 on the season and 3-9 in ASUN play. West Georgia faced several teams from the ASUN's Gold division in nonconference play, going 2-3 against Bellarmine, Austin Peay and North Alabama. Both of UWG's wins came over the Knights in the opening weekend of the season. Other wins for the Wolves came against Furman, UAB and George Mason; West Georgia lost both games against Troy, its lone nonconference common opponent with FGCU.
In ASUN play, West Georgia took two games from JU in Carrollton before being swept by the Dolphins in Jacksonville. The only other ASUN win for the Wolves was in a road trip to Queens; Stetson swept UWG last weekend in Carrollton.
Jenna Samuel leads the Wolves in nearly every offensive stat category. The junior is hitting .393 with a .489 OBP and 1.159 OPS. She has seven homers, ten doubles, 30 RBI, 25 runs scored, 20 walks and nine stolen bases. Four of Samuel's long balls have come in conference play, along with ten runs scored and nine walks.
Cacie Cutright paces the West Georgia staff with a 5.02 ERA and 2.09 WHIP, along with 47 strikeouts across 85.0 innings pitched. In conference play, four Wolves pitchers, including Cutright (22.0), Samuel (14.1), Calli Hardison (15.0) and Delaney Hoyle (12.1) have tossed double-digit innings.
The Eagles are 10-0 all-time against West Georgia, are 7-0 in Carrollton, and are 6-0 since the Wolves entered the ASUN. FGCU swept UWG last year in Carrollton, 8-0, 9-7 and 4-3.
Olivia Black stole four bases and scored four runs during the series;
Sophie Wylie had a 3-for-3 day with three RBI and a homer in FGCU's 4-3 win.
The road trip to Carrollton will be the only meeting between FGCU and UWG in the 2026 regular season. It also marks the second and final time in the 2026 regular season that FGCU will leave the state of Florida.
