FGCU begins road trip at Jacksonville

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Florida Gulf Coast softball (13-21, 7-2 ASUN) will begin the month of April at Jacksonville (21-14, 6-3) at 6 p.m. on Friday, April 3.

The last time out, FGCU took the series from North Florida behind a sweep of the Saturday doubleheader. Sietske Drijvers extended her on-base streak to 13 games in the series, and FGCU limited the Ospreys to just one run on Saturday behind quality pitching from Julia Bacoulis, Grace Taylor and Victoria Ash. Bacoulis and Taylor combined for FGCU's second shutout of the season in the series clinching win on Saturday afternoon.

FGCU is led by Sietske Drijvers, who is hitting .314 with a .393 OBP and 18 runs scored. Olivia Black has stolen nine bases and has 34 hits; Mackenzie Leiti has five home runs and 19 RBI. Kiki Daniels leads the Eagles with six home runs, 17 walks and a .548 SLG. In the circle, Julia Bacoulis has 55 strikeouts and a 4.46 ERA through 75.1 innings pitched. In ASUN play, she has a 2.33 ERA in 30.0 innings.

The Dolphins enter at 21-14 with nonconference losses against their only common opponents with FGCU in Charlotte and Florida State. In conference play, JU also took a series 3-2 from UNF and is 4-2 against West Georgia, including a sweep of the Wolves in Jacksonville last weekend.

Sarah Beth Brake has led Jacksonville at the plate in 2026 with 36 hits, 11 home runs, eight doubles and 32 RBI. She's hitting .414 with a 1.306 OPS through 35 games. Kate Linkletter reaches base at a .528 clip due to 13 walks and 17 HBP. Her 17 HBP rank fourth nationally and lead the ASUN; she's only two back of the national leader in that category. Jaida Thomas has four triples and has scored 30 runs; Thomas and Emma Mansfield each have nine stolen bases.

Five of Brake's home runs have come in ASUN play. Lindsey Chadwick also has four long balls in conference action.

Jacy Harrelson has thrown the bulk of the innings for the Dolphins in the circle. She boasts a 12-6 record and 2.90 ERA across 111.0 innings pitched. Those 111 innings lead the ASUN and rank 18th in the country. Jordan White (4.75 ERA, 45.2 innings) and Reese Wells (3.90 ERA, 41.1 innings) are other pitchers tallying regular innings. In conference play, Harrelson and Wells have combined to throw all but 4.1 innings. Harrelson's ERA is 3.14 through 29.0 innings and Wells' ERA is 4.96 through 18.1 innings.

As a team, JU's pitching staff ranks 13th nationally with only eight batters hit by a pitch. Meanwhile, their hitters have drawn 31 HBP, which ranks 33rd nationally and second in the ASUN.

The Eagles lead the all-time series with Jacksonville 41-13, and are 17-8 against the Dolphins in Jacksonville. The last time the two teams met, the Dolphins took a series 2-1 in Jacksonville in 2025. Ash threw a complete game in FGCU's win.
