ATHENS, Ga. - The Florida Gulf Coast University women's golf team climbed six spots on the leaderboard during Sunday's second round of the Liz Murphey Collegiate Classic, moving into third place at 17-over par at the UGA Golf Course. The Eagles sit just behind tournament host Georgia and Rutgers with one round remaining.
FGCU was paced by
Amelie Alcantara and
Leonie Wulfers, who sit inside the top 15 after matching 1-under 71 rounds on Sunday. Alcantara is tied for 10th at 1-over, while Wulfers used an eagle and a strong finish to climb into a tie for 12th at 2-over.
Islay Benoit (T-27, +7) and
Sydney Deal (T-32, +8) each made major moves up the leaderboard with improved second rounds, while
Lousiane Gauthier rounds out the lineup at T-61 (+12).

Amelie Alcantara led the way for FGCU and is tied for 10th individually at 1-over par. After opening with a 74, Alcantara bounced back with a 1-under 71 in Sunday's second round. Her round was highlighted by four birdies, including a strong stretch on the back nine, helping her steady climb into the top 10. Alcantara also ranks tied for 10th in the field with six total birdies.
Leonie Wulfers is close behind, tied for 12th at 2-over par after a 1-under 71 in round two. Wulfers made one of the biggest moves of the day, jumping 10 spots on the leaderboard. Her round was highlighted by an eagle on the par-4 11th, along with a birdie on hole 17 to close in red figures.
Islay Benoit made a significant jump of 21 spots on Sunday and is tied for 27th at 7-over par. Benoit carded a 1-over 73 in the second round, bouncing back from a tough opening day with two birdies on the back nine to stabilize her scorecard.
Sydney Deal also surged up the leaderboard, climbing 26 places into a tie for 32nd at 8-over par. Deal posted a 1-over 73 in round two, highlighted by a pair of birdies on holes 17 and 18 to finish her round on a high note.
Lousiane Gauthier rounds out the lineup tied for 61st at 12-over par. She recorded a 6-over 78 in the second round, tallying three birdies while battling through a challenging middle stretch.
As a team, the Eagles have leaned on consistency, tying with No. 42 Indiana for the most pars in the field with 112. Wulfers leads FGCU with 25 pars (tied for sixth overall), while Alcantara and Benoit each have 23, and Deal has added 22.

With momentum on their side after Sunday's strong showing, the Eagles will look to carry that into Monday's final round at the UGA Golf Course.
