FORT MYERS, Fla. – FGCU continues its four-match homestand on Tuesday as the Eagles (8-10) will welcome Delaware (11-3) to Southwest Florida for a Noon tennis match at the FGCU Tennis Complex.
The Blue Hens currently have the second-best record in Conference USA, behind former ASUN member Jacksonville State, but have split their past four matches. UD is coming off a 4-1 win at Richmond on Mar. 20 but dropped a 5-2 decision at Saint Joseph's on Mar. 14.
FGCU has won seven of its past nine matches, with the only two hiccups coming against ranked teams. Of the seven wins, the Eagles have controlled play with only one match ending in a 4-3 final.
While Florida Gulf Coast has never faced Delaware before – Tuesday's match will be the first time the Eagles face a team from the First State – the program has faced several current Conference USA teams in the past. The Green & Blue are 16-8 (.667) against current C-USA members, leading the all-time series against Jacksonville State (1-0), Kennesaw State (11-6) and Liberty (4-2).
Tuesday's match marks the second-to-last home match for the Eagles before the regular season home finale on Friday against ASUN rival North Florida. FGCU will host the ASUN Tournament on Apr. 14-18 at the FGCU Tennis Complex.
