FGCU begins four-game homestand Tuesday by hosting USF

Fans get red rally towels to make the Bulls see red

FORT MYERS, Fla. – FGCU returns home to the friendly confines of Swanson Stadium on Tuesday as the Eagles will host South Florida at 6:30 p.m. Fans heading to the game will receive a free Horns Down, Wings Up red rally towel.

The mid-week contest is must-see for baseball fans as it features two of the top teams in the nation, each receiving votes in two polls and each among the national leaders in offense in their own respective ways.

Game Notes: FGCU | USF

FGCU (17-7) leads the nation in hits (304) and ranks fourth nationally in batting average (.344). The hot-hitting Eagles have recorded 10-or-more hits in 20 of their 24 games so far this season.

South Florida (20-4) leads the nation in sacrifice flies (24) and ranks fifth nationally in triples (10) while ranking 36th in stolen bases (49). The quick-footed team more closely resembles gazelles than bulls, but USF ranks 34th nationally in hits (242), showing they do bring power to the plate.

FGCU leads the all-time series over USF, 22-10, but the Bulls have won two straight in the series and the Eagles only have a 9-7 advantage at home. The most recent results are due, somewhat, to USF head coach Mitch Hannahs, who led Indiana State for 14 years before heading to Tampa. The Eagles enter Tuesday's contest looking for their first win against a Hannahs-led team.
