TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Florida Gulf Coast beach volleyball (3-3) earned a 3-0 win over South Florida to highlight the first day of the FSU Tournament.
"It was definitely a complete team victory," head coach Chris Sweat said. "All the matches were very close, within two or three points on every set, and we played very disciplined volleyball in our side out game. It was a great win against a very talented team like USF."
Nicole De Oliveira and
Erin Miller opened with a 21-16, 21-18 win on court 2.
Kaitlyn Beck and
Emma Soncrant followed with a 21-18, 21-17 win on court 4, and
Andrea Dietz and
Sydney Majick closed out the 3-0 win with a 22-20, 21-18 victory on court 3. The match was played to clinch with potential inclement weather in the forecast, and courts 1 and 5 did not finish play.

The Eagles split the day with a 3-0 loss to defending national champion TCU. The Horned Frogs won behind victories on courts 1, 3 and 5.
