Boston College visits FGCU for weekend series beginning Friday

Battle of Eagles set in Fort Myers

FORT MYERS, Fla. – One of the nation's most prolific offenses hosts one of the nation's leaders in earned run average as Boston College will visit FGCU's Swanson Stadium for a three-game series beginning Friday evening.

Swanson Stadium, located on FGCU's campus, will play host to the weekend's series with games set for Friday (6:30 p.m.), Saturday (5 p.m.) and Sunday (1 p.m.). Tickets for all three games remain available and can be purchased online here.

FGCU (8-1) enters the weekend ranked fifth in the nation in hits (111) and eighth in doubles (26) while Boston College (4-3) brings a pitching staff to Fort Myers that ranks 12th nationally in ERA (2.89).

Jon Embury, catcher for FGCU, has seven doubles to his credit to rank second nationally, while his 18 hits rank fourth and his five home runs rank ninth in the country. Both Evan Dempsey (10th) and Embury (18th) rank in the top 20 nationally in runs scored while Embury also ranks 11th nationally in RBIs.

Last week's John Olerud National Two-Way Player of the Week, Dempsey also ranks 10th in the country with 19 strikeouts to his credit this season.

A.J. Colarusso (Friday) and Tyler Mudd (Sunday), two of this weekend's projected starters for BC, are in a tie with Dempsey for the national lead in ERA (0.00).

The Massachusetts-based Eagles are 4-3 with all three losses coming against P4 teams, dropping games to Houston (5-1) and Northwestern (5-4 and 8-5), while claiming a 10-0 win over Washington.
FGCU is recently split a midweek series with Indiana State, a program that has been to the NCAA Regionals in three of the past four years.

Boston College and FGCU have met five times prior with all five taking place in Fort Myers. BC's last visit to Swanson Stadium came in 2012 when FGCU capped off a three-game series with an 8-5 win. Overall, FGCU trails the all-time series, 3-2.
