Dempsey was instrumental in leading the Eagles to a perfect 4-0 week with a mid-week win over Minnesota and a three-game weekend sweep of Stonehill. FGCU's 7-0 start is the best in school history. The 2025 John Olerud Award winner was 6-for-15 (.400) at the plate in the leadoff spot with a home run, two doubles, two RBIs and six runs scored on the week. He also racked up a complete game shutout win on the mound going seven innings, allowing only two hits and one walk while striking out seven batters in a 10-0 series opening win against Stonehill.
The announcement continues a two-day stretch where the Eagles have racked up several awards. On Monday, Embury was named the Atlantic Sun Conference's Player of the Week while Dempsey was named the league's Pitcher of the Week. Then, earlier today, Dempsey was named to Collegiate Baseball's National Team of the Week as a two-way player, being just one of 14 honorees, only three of which – including Dempsey – came from mid-major programs.
FGCU continues its season-opening homestand on Tuesday when Indiana State visits Fort Myers once again in a two-game mid-week series between two of the top mid-major programs in the country.
Tickets are on sale for the games on
