Hadjivarnava nets straight-set win at FAU

Eagles play at Miami (Fla.) Saturday

BOCA RATON, Fla. – Stavros Hadjivarnava notched a straight-sets win at No. 4 singles Friday afternoon as FGCU faced a Florida Atlantic team coming out of hibernation at the Kimberly V. Strauss Tennis Center in Boca Raton.
Hadjivarnava notched the 6-3, 6-3 win over Lucca Pignaton at No. 4 singles to provide the main highlight of the day.

FGCU (1-7) dropped the match, 4-1, to a well-rested Owls team that played its first dual match in three weeks.

The Eagles tandem of Stefan Correa and Pablo Paternostro claimed a win at No. 2 doubles, 6-3, over Segundo Goity Zapico and Simon Myslivec. However, FAU notched wins at Nos. 1 and 3 doubles to claim the opening point.

In singles action, FAU recorded wins at Nos. 1, 3 and 5 singles to clinch the match, but not before Hadjivarnava registered the win at No. 4 singles.

The Eagles return to action Saturday afternoon at No. 61 Miami (Fla.) in Coral Gables.
