Homestand continues for FGCU as Mercer, Arkansas State visit

Eagles to tangle Bears Friday morning

FORT MYERS, Fla. – An old rivalry gets renewed and a first-time opponent visits Fort Myers this weekend when FGCU's women's tennis team continues its six-match homestand.

The Eagles (6-2), having won four of their last five, will host Mercer (6-2) on Friday at 10 a.m. and then host Arkansas State (3-3) on Sunday at 10 a.m.

June Bjork leads the Eagles and remains nationally ranked with Thursday's rankings release by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA), coming in at the No. 120 spot.

Friday's match against Mercer features a former Atlantic Sun Conference opponent. The series against Mercer, which dates back to 2008, has been decidedly in the Eagles' favor as FGCU holds an 11-1 lead over Mercer. The Bears' lone win came in 2024 in Macon.

Sunday's match against Arkansas State will be the first time the two programs have met on the courts. A-State heads to Fort Myers on a hot streak, having won three straight with victories at Memphis, over Tennessee State and a 4-0 decision against Lamar.
