FORT MYERS, Fla. – Returning home for six consecutive home matches, FGCU will host an undefeated Southeastern Louisiana squad to begin its homestand starting at 9 a.m. Monday.
The Eagles (5-2) are coming off a close 4-3 loss at Florida Atlantic on Friday but had won their three matches prior.
Southeastern Louisiana (6-0) has started its season hot with six consecutive wins but will get its first true test Monday in Fort Myers. Of the Lions' first six matches, only two have been against Division I opponents – Southern (0-2) and Alcorn State (3-8).
FGCU looks to get back on track in multiple ways on Monday.
Anjali Kotecha and
Nora Svensson hope to rebound after their first doubles loss of the season, while
June Bjork's first decision as a nationally ranked singles player (No. 112) was a loss at FAU last week.
The Lions are led by Adriana Tirado, who will put a 6-0 singles record on the line Monday. She has also partnered with Miriam Tetradze to go 5-0 in doubles this year.
Monday's contest will not just be the first time FGCU will face Southeastern Louisiana, but also the first time the Green & Blue will match up against a Southland Conference opponent.
