Men's basketball set for Saturday tilt with Stetson

FORT MYERS, Fla. – Florida Gulf Coast men's basketball (11-15, 5-8 ASUN) continues its homestand on Saturday when the Eagles face off with Stetson (9-17, 5-8 ASUN) at 2 p.m. at Alico Arena.

The last time out, Jordan Ellerbee led FGCU with 22 points on 8-for-11 shooting from the field in a 90-81 win over North Florida. The freshman guard didn't miss a 2-point shot, and has scored in double-digits in the last eight games. Isaiah Malone added his second career 20-point game on 8-for-10 shooting from the field. JR Konieczny rounded out the Eagles' offensive punch with a 19 point, seven rebound, five assist outing.

The Eagles dominated inside the paint, scoring 42 points to the Ospreys' 24, including 30 points off layups and dunks. The 42 paint points are the most the Eagles have scored since December 3 at FIU. FGCU also scored 23 fast break points, its third best mark of the season. The Eagles' defense held UNF's Kent Jackson, who entered the game third nationally in 3-point makes, to just 4-for-15 from beyond the arc.

Malone recorded one block to move into a tie with Demetris Morant for the fourth most blocks in a season in FGCU history with 48. He needs four more blocks to take sole possession of second on that list.

Stetson enters at 9-17 and 5-8 in ASUN play. The Hatters are coming off a 67-62 home win over Jacksonville; Ethan Copeland scored 17 to lead Stetson to the win.

The Hatters commit fouls at a low rate; Stetson's 15.4 fouls per game is the second fewest in the ASUN and ranks 36th nationally.

Stetson has three players averaging double-digit scoring, led by Jamie Phillips Jr. at 16.0 points per game. Ethan Copeland tallies 13.7 points and 1.8 steals per game; Collin Kuhl posts 12.1 points and 5.8 rebounds per game.

FGCU leads the all-time series with Stetson 27-13; the Eagles swept the Hatters in 2025 and are 3-3 in the Pat Chambers era. The last time the two teams met, Michael Duax had 13 points and eight rebounds in a 83-80 FGCU road win. When the Hatters came to Alico Arena in 2025, Rory Stewart had 13 points and three made 3-pointers in a dominant 82-56 Eagles win.
