Eagles set to take on Louisiana and UCF

FORT MYERS, Fla. — Florida Gulf Coast University's men's tennis team is set to open its spring season on the road this weekend with back-to-back matches in Orlando.

The Eagles are scheduled to face Louisiana at noon Saturday, Jan. 10, and No. 14 Central Florida at noon Sunday, Jan. 11. The pair of matches kicks off FGCU's spring slate.

Junior Hugo Magnusson was named to the Atlantic Sun Conference Preseason All-ASUN team on Tuesday in recognition of his performance last season.

Magnusson is coming off an outstanding 2024-25 season in which he earned unanimous All-ASUN First Team honors after posting strong singles and doubles results primarily from the No. 1 position.

The Eagles return eight of their 10 players from the 2025 roster and have added freshman Stefan Correa and Arizona State transfer Tanner Povey for the 2026 campaign.
FGCU finished the 2025 season with a 13-14 overall record, including a 6-2 mark in ASUN play.

The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns went 10-12 overall with a 4-4 record in Sun Belt competition last season, while UCF posted a 23-9 overall mark and finished 5-3 in Big 12 play in 2025.

The Eagles open the spring schedule in Orlando before returning home later in the season for a series of matches at the FGCU Tennis Complex, including conference play and the ASUN Championship scheduled for April in Fort Myers.
