FGCU Ties Record for Best Grades in Fall 2025

Over 88% of FGCU student-athletes achieved 3.0 GPA or higher

FORT MYERS, Fla. – Florida Gulf Coast University Athletics and its student-athletes posted a record semester in the fall 2025 semester, tying the department's highest semester grade point average ever with a 3.57 mark in the classroom, while all 15 programs earned a GPA of 3.3 or higher.

Along with matching the department's highest-ever semester GPA, over 88% of FGCU student-athletes achieved a GPA of 3.0 or higher, with 63% recording a GPA above 3.5. The department had over 41% of its student-athletes earn Dean's List honors, with nearly an additional 22% receiving President's List honors.

FGCU had four teams – baseball, men's basketball, men's cross country and women's soccer – set a new semester GPA record. The Eagles had six teams – baseball, men's basketball, men's cross country, men's tennis, women's soccer and swimming & diving – set their highest-ever cumulative GPA.

"We're incredibly proud of the culture of academic success within FGCU Athletics," said Eagles Director of Athletics Colin Hargis. "The collaboration of our student-athletes, university leadership, coaches, academic staff and administration leads to the holistic development of our student-athletes while empowering them to be champions in the classroom."

To that end, FGCU had 13 student-athletes earn degrees in the fall: 10 with undergraduate degrees and three with master's degrees.

"These achievements are a direct reflection of our student-athletes' dedication to academic success and earning their degrees," FGCU Associate Athletics Director/Director of Student-Athlete Success Dr. Ashley Kuhn said. "The success our Eagles are achieving in the classroom complements the success we are seeing in athletic competition and in the community. We are incredibly proud of all FGCU student-athletes who excel academically, earn their degree and are prepared for success in life."

Of FGCU's 15 intercollegiate athletics programs, nine of them achieved at least their 25th consecutive semester of a 3.0 or higher team GPA.
