ORLANDO, Fla. - The Eagles opened play at the UCF Challenge Presented by PDI on Sunday, finishing the first round tied for fifth with at Eagle Creek Golf Club. The Eagles carded a one-under-par team score to stay within striking distance of the leaders after 18 holes.

INDIVIDUAL LEADER: Amelia Wan, Baylor (-6)

Leonie Wulfers led the Eagles in the opening round, carding a four-under 68 to sit tied for second on the individual leaderboard. Her round was highlighted by an eagle on the par-5 16th hole and three birdies, as she consistently took advantage of scoring opportunities to post one of the lowest scores of the day.
Sydney Deal followed with a three-under 69, placing her in a tie for fourth after 18 holes. Deal produced an eagle on the par-5 fourth hole and added four birdies throughout the round, helping provide momentum for FGCU and keeping the Eagles firmly in contention heading into the next round.
Anne Yost turned in a two-over 74 with three birdies, while
Islay Benoit and
Amelie Alcantara each posted rounds of four-over 76 to complete the FGCU lineup.
As a team, the Eagles showcased their scoring ability throughout the day, leading the field with two eagles and totaling 12 birdies, tied for the 10th most among all teams. Deal was a key contributor to that number, tying for eighth in the field with four birdies during the opening round.
