FORT MYERS, Fla. - The Florida Gulf Coast University men's tennis team kicks off its 2025–26 fall campaign this weekend at the Bedford Cup, hosted by Florida State University in Tallahassee at the Scott Speicher Memorial Tennis Center. The tournament runs from Friday, September 26, through Sunday, September 28, marking the Eagles' first competition of the season.
"We are very excited to open the Fall season in Tallahassee at the Bedford Cup", says coach Josh Molino. "This event attracts the best of the best from the Florida schools and is a great measuring stick to see where we are as a group to begin the year. We will introduce two new Eagles to action Friday as Tanner Povey and Stefan Correa will get their first matches wearing the Blue and Green. I'm very pumped to get Gustav Hasslegren and Mika Bunjes back on the court as well, two mature, experienced guys that we can lean on this year. To be honest, it's the first time in 13 months that we have all 10 men available and ready to compete, and we will need everyone carrying the boats this weekend."
The Bedford Cup will provide FGCU a chance to test its lineup, sharpen its doubles and singles combinations, and set the tone for the rest of the season. With a mix of experience and fresh energy, the Eagles are eager to start strong and carry that momentum into the rest of the season.
Following this opening tournament, the Eagles will travel to Gainesville to compete in the ITA Men's Southeast Regional Championships, from Oct. 8-12.
