MIAMI, FLA. - A two-game winning streak for the Florida Gulf Coast University men's soccer team was snapped on Thursday evening with a 2-0 loss to in-state rival Florida International University on the road. The setback brings the Eagles' season record to 4-3-1 overall.

The Panthers (3-2-1) scored an early goal as Pasquale Capriati netted his team-leading third goal of the season in the ninth minute of play. FIU was aggressive throughout the first half of play, putting eight of its 10 shots on goal allowing the reigning ASUN Goalkeeper of the Week

In a game marred by 25 total fouls, including nine yellow cards and a red card in the 43rd minute that forced FGCU to play a man down, Florida International continued its offensive aggression in the second half with 11 more shots but put just three on frame.

FIU put the game out of reach in the 68th minute with a goal from Johan Helan as the Eagles mustered just two shots across the game's final 20 minutes of play.

The Eagles return to action on Tuesday, Sept. 23 as they hit the road to Boiling Springs, N.C. for a 7:00 p.m. kickoff against Gardner-Webb University before opening ASUN play against Stetson on Saturday, Sept. 27 under the lights on Pickering Field At The FGCU Soccer Complex.
