FORT MYERS, Fla. – The Florida Gulf Coast University volleyball team earned the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Team Academic Award on Monday.
The AVCA Team Academic Award honors collegiate and high school programs that display exceptional academic performance by maintaining at least a 3.30 cumulative team grade-point average on a 4.0 scale.
Head coach Thais Baziquetto-Allen congratulated her squad for posting a 3.32 GPA during the 2024–25 academic year.
"We're incredibly proud to receive the AVCA Team Academic Award—it's a true reflection of our program's commitment to excellence on and off the court," said Baziquetto-Allen.
"This recognition wouldn't be possible without the relentless dedication of our student-athletes, who continue to raise the bar academically, and the unwavering support from our coaching staff and the incredible team at the HARC. Their guidance, structure, and daily investment in our players' academic journeys are the foundation of this success."

Megan Harris earned a 4.0 GPA during the fall semester.
Claire Ertel and
Eliska Vytiskova recorded perfect GPAs in the spring.
On the court, the Eagles captured the 2024 Atlantic Sun Conference regular season and tournament championships, earning a spot in the NCAA Tournament.
Shelby Kent was named ASUN Player of the Year, while English joined her on the All-ASUN First Team. Both student-athletes were also named to the ASUN All-Academic Team.
FGCU will open the 2025 season at home on Aug. 30 at 1 p.m. against the University of Missouri.
