Florida Gulf Coast University women's tennis suffered a heart break 4-3 defeat from Lipscomb University in the first round of the Atlantic Sun Conference Tournament Thursday in Jacksonville, Florida.

The Bisons won the doubles point to start the match with a 1-0 advantage.

Francisca Vergara got the Eagles back in the game with a 6-4, 6-1 victory on court No.5 before Nora Svensson gave the Green & Blue a 2-1 lead when she delivered a 6-2, 6-4 showing on court No. 4.

The Bisons rallied back with two points as Anjali Kotecha fell 6-0, 7-6 (7-4) on court No. 3 and Paloma Goldsmith dropped her match 6-3, 6-4 on court No. 6.

Ashley Matz would tie the match 3-3 with a 7-6 (8-6), 6-2 showing on court No. 1. The match would be decided on court No. 2 and Isabella Colmenares  won the first set 6-3 but dropped the last two 6-2, 6-3 for Lipscomb to move to the next round of the championship.

FGCU ends the season with a 12-9 overall record and 6-3 league mark. The Eagles earned seven post season awards and won Player of the Week four times this season.
