Women's soccer promotes Alex Ng to associate head coach, hires Nicole Burke from Jacksonville State

FORT MYERS, Fla. – Florida Gulf Coast University women's soccer has promoted Alex Ng to an associate head coach role within the program and also hired Nicole Burke from Jacksonville State to the 2025 coaching staff.

During his first season with FGCU as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator, Ng helped to direct the Eagles to an ASUN regular season title and a semifinal appearance in the ASUN Tournament. The Eagles added a 9-1-1 record in league play to their 11-6-2 overall resume. The Eagles have won 10 or more matches in 17 of 18 seasons.

Ng also helped head coach Jim Blankenship reach career win No. 450 during the 2024 campaign. The Green & Blue went a perfect 6-0 at home during conference play and emerged as a top-25 scoring offense with 2.26 goals per game behind the ASUN Midfielder of the Year and five First-Team All-Conference selections. Eight different Eagles earned postseason honors, including taking home the Goalkeeper of the Year Award.

Ng came to FGCU with Big Ten coaching experience from Maryland and also serves as a Network Talent ID Scout with US Soccer to identify, evaluate and recommend female players for the United States' National Teams. Ng has also been named to the United Soccer Coaches 30 Under 30 Program.

Assistant coach Burke spent last season with Jacksonville State, helping direct the Gamecocks to an 8-9-2 overall record and a 3-4-2 ledger in the C-USA for a No. 6 seed in their respective conference tournament. Burke coached three C-USA honorees, including one First Team and an All-Freshman selection. The Gamecocks, who led the C-USA in goals scored and ranked No. 25 nationally in the category, defeated two fellow ASUN foes in West Georgia 1-0 and North Alabama 5-0.

Prior to her one-year stint at Jacksonville State, Burke spent two years at Hanover College in Hanover, Indiana. The program posted a 26-5-7 record during that span. In 2023, Hanover advanced to the NCAA Division III Soccer Tournament, earning the automatic bid by blanking Transylvania University, 1-0, in the championship match. Hanover produced an 8-0-1 mark in league play and 14 overall wins en route to back-to-back HCAC regular season titles.

Prior to her time at Hanover, she served as a graduate assistant in 2021 at Bluffton University.
