Women's golf wins ASUN Championship, Gauthier wins individual

Florida Gulf Coast University women's golf won the 2025 Atlantic Sun Conference Championship on four playoff holes and Lousiane Gauthier won the ASUN individual championship with a three-round score of even-par to win by four strokes for the first ever team or individual ASUN championship.

The Eagles started the third round 10 strokes back of first place Lipscomb in third place with Stetson one stroke ahead of them in second place.

FGCU would gain 15 strokes on Lipscomb and one stroke on Stetson to force the playoff against the Hatters.

The playoff hole format would see 10 golfers, five from each team, compete. The first five golfers started their hole with all five reaching the green in two strokes. The first group would end Stetson even-par and FGCU 1-over.

The next group saw all Eagles get on the green in two with two out of three Hatters reach the green in two. FGCU would get two pars to finish the first playoff hole 1-over. Stetson would go par, par, bogey to finish 1-over sending the playoff into a second playoff hole on hole 11.

The second playoff hole would start with three FGCU golfers combining for a two-over score with Stetson scoring even par. Four of the next five golfers would par but one Stetson golfer shot a double bogey to bring the sides level again. On to the third playoff hole, hole 17.

Hole 17 is a par five, 541-yard hole that had the best performance during the first three rounds of the tournament with all teams just 0.14 above par. The teams would tie once again to go to their fourth playoff hole.

Hole 18 hosted the fourth playoff hole. The Eagles jumped out to a three stroke advantage with two birdies and a bogey from the Hatters in the first five golfers. FGCU would ride that lead to the team championship.

Gauthier started the day two strokes behind of the individual leader, playing in the same group. Gauthier would shoot even par on the day, besting the former leader by eight strokes, winning by four strokes, her fourth individual win of the year.

Gauthier did it all as the only player to be in the top three scoring for par 3, 4 and 5s. She was the best on par-3s shooting 2-under and tied for second best on par-5s shooting 2-under there as well. Gauthier topped the tournament in birdies with 13.

Posie Farrelly gained nine spots in the third round shooting just 2-over par to move into the top 10. Amelie Alcantara and Leonie Wulfers each climbed in the leaderboard to help the team effort to win the ASUN Championship.

With these results, the Green and Blue will compete at NCAAs. The selection show is Wednesday, April 23 at 1 p.m. on the Golf Channel.
