Men's tennis at home for final regular season weekend

FORT MYERS, Fla. - Florida Gulf Coast University men's tennis will complete its regular season campaign with two home matches against Bellarmine and Austin Peay on Friday and Sunday at 5 p.m. and 3 p.m., respectively.

The Eagles (10-13, 4-2 ASUN) currently sit at third in the Atlantic Sun Conference, tied with North Florida but owning the tiebreaker of head-to-head record.

While the top seed is out of reach for FGCU, a sweep of the Knights (7-9, 3-3 ASUN) and Governors (6-11, 1-5 ASUN) with Stetson getting swept by the same duo would lead to a two-seed for the Green and Blue.

Friday will provide significant clarity to the Green and Blue's seeding in the ASUN tournament. A win against Bellarmine assures that the Knights will be a lower seed in the tournament; a loss gives the Knights control of earning a higher seed.

Around the ASUN on Friday, Lipscomb and North Florida will play each other in Nashville. An Osprey win moves Lipscomb out of contention of jumping FGCU in the standings. A Bisons win will allow some space for FGCU at the three seed, requiring two loses this weekend to drop in seeding.

The six-team field has been set for next weekend's ASUN tournament with only seeding left to determine. The three-day tournament starts on April 17 with the top two seeds getting a bye on the first day. Three consecutive days of matches will be played.
