Florida Gulf Coast University men's tennis defeat Lipscomb 4-3 in a pivotal Atlantic Sun Conference match in Nashville, Tenn. that will help provide clarity for the ASUN standings.
FGCU (9-12, 3-1 ASUN) and Lipscomb (8-9, 2-2 ASUN) both entered the day with one loss in conference play. With the win, the Eagles move into fourth place in the ASUN.
The doubles point was won by the Eagles with wins on courts one and two by
Hugo Magnusson and Johnathan Baron (6-4) and
Guglielmo Stefanacci and
Pablo Paternostro (6-3).
Ninad Raut continued his habit of quick work from court five, finishing first by a score of 6-4, 6-1.
CJ Smith took his match on court six, 6-2, 6-1 before Magnusson clinched the match on court one 6-2, 7-5.
The Bisons would win the next three courts to bring the score to 4-3 despite the clinch at 4-0.
The Green and Blue continue their road stretch with a match against North Alabama on Sunday.
