FORT MYERS, Fla. – Florida Gulf Coast University beach volleyball rolled to two victories Wednesday over Palm Beach Atlantic and Florida Southern on Senior Day at the R.O.C. The Eagles defeated PBA 4-1 and swept Florida Southern 5-0.

FGCU started the morning off slowly as PBA won two out of the first three matches played. PBA swept the exhibition match and won on court five in three sets. Andrea Dietz and Mia Thompson responded to even the match against the Sailfish at 1-1 apiece with a sweep on court four. 

Then on courts one, two and three, FGCU posted four consecutive sweeps en route to win the 4-1 victory. The most impressive slaughter occurred on court three as Alexis Keeter and Ava Lilliquist, who were named ASUN Pair of the Week, won 21-14 and 21-12. Seniors Kaitlyn Lubbers and Jaci Carpenter picked up wins in the morning action.

PBA recorded a 5-0 sweep of Florida Southern in the second match of the day. FGCU awaited a tired Florida Southern squad at 2 p.m. The Eagles duplicated PBA's sweep of Florida Southern, also winning 5-0 to finish out the day.

Keeter and Lilliquist held their opponent to single digits in the first set in an inevitable sweep. Lubbers and Nicole De Oliveria held the Mocs' No. 1 pair to six points in the second set of an easy two-set win. Four of FGCU's five points came in a two-set sweep fashion, with one coming by forfeit due to injury.

With two wins Wednesday, Lubbers tied Kacie Johnson atop the FGCU Beach Volleyball all-time career wins list at 82. FGCU heads to Jacksonville, Florida, on next Friday (March 28) for the ASUN Mid-Season Tournament.
