FORT MYERS, Fla. – Florida Gulf Coast University beach volleyball heads to Tampa, Florida, this Friday for the Tampa Invite to face the University of Tampa at 10 a.m. and then Eckerd at noon.

FGCU opened the season with a 2-2 performance at the Beach Berg Invitational, hosted by Southern Miss. The Eagles' two losses have come against Top 10 teams. The Eagles swept Southern Miss, defeated ASUN foe North Alabama 4-1 and took No. 8 LSU to the wire in a 3-2 defeat.

The Eagles' No. 2 (Jaci Carpenter/Emma Soncrant) and No. 4 (Alexis Keeter/Ava Lilliquist) pairs both went 3-1 during the opening weekend and defeated No. 8 LSU. Carpenter and Soncrant were nominated for the ASUN Pair of the Week.

ASUN Preseason Player of the Year Kaitlyn Luebbers improved to 75 career wins and is just eight wins away from setting the FGCU all-time career wins record for the Eagles. FGCU received three votes in the latest AVCA Collegiate Beach Volleyball Top 25 rankings.
