FORT MYERS, Fla. – Florida Gulf Coast University baseball hosts Stony Brook for a weekend series at Swanson Stadium beginning Friday.
Friday's first pitch is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Game two is set for at 2 p.m. Saturday, and the series finale will be Sunday at 1 p.m. Games one and three will be streamed on ESPN+.
Mother Nature rolled into the area on Wednesday, preventing FGCU from evening up the two-game midweek series against Indiana State. The Eagles now enter the weekend 1-3 after dropping the final two games against Fairfield and added another loss on Tuesday to the Sycamores, 8-5.
Friday night starter Justin Henschel recorded nine strikeouts in FGCU's lone win on opening day. At the plate, six Eagles are currently batting .300 or better through four games, and FGCU has scored at least four runs each game. Tyler Herb, Aidan Corn and Nathan Gagnon are averaging higher than .400. Corn has produced a team-leading eight hits, and Gagnon holds a team-best .556 average. Five different Eagles have hit a home run this season.
Stony Brook swept Bethune-Cookman to open its 2025 campaign. The Seawolves erased an 8-0 deficit in game three to storm back for an 11-8 victory, capped by a three-run home run from Chanz Doughty in the final inning to secure the series sweep. Stony Brook went 24-28 a season ago, dropping its final five games.
