FORT MYERS, Fla. – Florida Gulf Coast University baseball hosts Indiana State for a two-game midweek series at Swanson Stadium beginning Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. Game two is scheduled for Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. and will be streamed on ESPN+.
Indiana State comes into town fresh off a 36-6 win over Wagner. The Sycamores scored 20 runs in the third inning, setting the NCAA record for the most runs ever scored in the third inning. Indiana State won 16-2 in game two of the series, outscoring Wagner 52-12 after dropping the season opener 3-2. Six different Sycamores have hit a home run this year as Carlos Pena leads the way with two.
The Sycamores reached the championship of the Lexington Regional a season ago and have made an NCAA Regional the last two seasons with 40+ wins in each of those campaigns.
FGCU won 30 games a season ago and is off to a 1-2 start in 2025. The Eagles dominated Fairfield on opening day as Justin Henschel recorded nine strikeouts in a 9-1 win, but FGCU would lose the series on Sunday in an extra-inning affair in the series finale.
Aidan Corn, Tyler Herb and Javier Gorostola are each hitting above .500 for the Eagles. The freshman Corn went 5-for-6 in Sunday's loss.
