FORT MYERS, Fla. – Florida Gulf Coast University men's tennis fell short in both ends of a home doubleheader Sunday to Auburn University. The Tigers took the opener by a final of 4-1 before wrapping up the day with a 5-0 victory in the nightcap.
FGCU took the first point of the day on Sunday, coming up with wins in the second and third doubles flights.
Harry Michalowski and Stavros Hadjinarava teamed up for a victory on Court 3, and the tandem of
Jonathan Baron and
Guglielmo Stefanacci clinched the doubles point with their first victory of the season together.
The Tigers claimed the doubles point in the nightcap, carrying momentum into singles action before eventually outlasting the Eagles once again.
The Eagles (3-7) are set for another busy weekend next week, visiting Miami on Friday before heading to Texas for a pair of matches against Nevada and Texas Tech on Sunday.
