FGCU travels to Samford

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Florida Gulf Coast men's basketball travels to Alabama to wrap up the ASUN-SoCon Challenge on Wednesday at Samford.

The last time out, FGCU used JR Konieczny & Rahmir Barno's second consecutive game posting 20+ points each to race past a Chattanooga team that replaced the bulk of its lineup from a NIT Championship in 2024-25, and to get FGCU's first ever ASUN-SoCon Challenge win. Michael Duax and Jordan Ellerbee had the best games of their season in the rout, as Duax posted 12 with multiple dunks and Ellerbee had a career high 14.

The SoCon finished atop the initial ASUN-SoCon challenge 11-9 behind 2-0 performances from Samford, Furman and Mercer.  FGCU went 0-2 in the ASUN-SoCon Challenge in its initial year of existence, with losses to UNC Greensboro and Furman. Samford earned its two wins over Austin Peay and North Alabama. This season, the SoCon holds a 5-4 lead with ten games left to play.

The Bulldogs enter at 3-2 with wins over Central Arkansas and Texas Southern, along with a four-point loss to Arkansas. Samford is led by Jadin Booth, who averages 23.6 points per game and has a team high seven steals. Keaton Norris is averaging 6.4 assists per game, and Dylan Faulkner grabs 5.6 rebounds a night.
