FORT MYERS, Fla. – Florida Gulf Coast University volleyball won the Atlantic Sun Conference regular season title for the ninth time in program history (2007, 2008, 2012, 2018, 2019, 2021, 2023, 2024, 2025) Saturday after delivering a 3-0 sweep against North Florida.
The Eagles earned the No. 1 seed for the upcoming ASUN Championship and will face the No. 8 seed UNF at 7 p.m. Thursday in the quarterfinals at Alico Arena. FGCU finished the regular season with a 13-3 record in the ASUN, while Jacksonville, EKU, and UCA all ended with 12-4 league marks.
The night was filled with personal milestones.
Hanna Borer surpassed 3,000 career assists,
Eliska Vytiskova reached 2,500 assists, and freshman
Erica Muhizi achieved 100 total blocks.
Barbara Koehler delivered a career-high 20 kills off 35 attacks (.543%), while Borer fueled the offense with 23 assists and eight digs. Muhizi had six kills and five blocks.
The Ospreys appeared in control in the first set, holding a 20-17 lead, but FGCU rallied to tie it at 23-all and then pushed ahead to win 27-25.
In the second set, UNF opened a 14-7 lead, but the Eagles stayed composed and reeled the Ospreys in with a 15-4 run to take a 22-18 advantage. UNF mounted a late push, but FGCU closed the set 25-23.
The Eagles dominated the final set, jumping to a 16-5 lead. UNF responded with an 8-2 run, cutting the deficit to 18-13, but FGCU found another gear and outscored the Ospreys 7-2 to win 25-15, completing the sweep.
