FORT MYERS, Fla. — Florida Gulf Coast University volleyball earned two Atlantic Sun Conference weekly honors Monday when Barbara Koehler was named ASUN Player of the Week and Abby Toeniskoetter was selected as ASUN Defensive Player of the Week. The accolades come after both players helped the Eagles post a perfect 3-0 mark in conference play last week, marking FGCU's fourth weekly honor this season.

"We are very proud of both Barbara and Abby for earning ASUN Player and Defensive Player of the Week this week," head coach Thais Baziquetto-Allen said. "They were both key players for us on both sides of the net to help lead us to a very important 3-0 week in conference play."

Koehler closed the week with 45 kills, an average of 3.75 per set along with 27 digs, five aces and six blocks. In Tuesday's match against Stetson, she matched her career high of 18 kills and set a new personal best with four aces, also contributing seven digs and two blocks. Facing West Georgia, she added 10 kills and seven digs. She capped the week with a double-double against Queens (N.C.), notching 17 kills and 13 digs.

"Barbara has continued to take on the responsibility of being one of the focal points of our offense and succeeded in doing so," Baziquetto-Allen said.

Toeniskoetter recorded 12 total blocks over the three matches and also chipped in 16 kills. Against Stetson, she posted four blocks and three kills. In the Friday match versus West Georgia, the middle blocker notched two aces, went 7-for-11 in kills, and added two blocks. On Sunday against the Royals, she recorded a match-high six blocks.

"Abby has continued to be a force for us in the middle on the block," Baziquetto-Allen said.

Koehler, Toeniskoetter and the Eagles head to face UCA on Friday for a 7 p.m. first serve.
