FORT MYERS, Fla. – Florida Gulf Coast University Director of Athletics
Colin Hargis has announced contract extensions for five FGCU head coaches, retaining key talent for the Eagles across several programs.
Head Women's Soccer Coach
Jim Blankenship signed a five-year extension, which runs through the 2029 season. Blankenship, the founding head coach of FGCU Women's Soccer, has led the Eagles to 11 regular season Atlantic Sun Conference Championships, eight ASUN Tournament Championships and has been named ASUN Coach of the Year six times. Blankenship's Eagles have made eight NCAA Championship Tournament appearances throughout his tenure.
Head Men's Basketball Coach
Pat Chambers inked a three-year extension which will see him under contract with the Eagles through the 2029 season. Chambers' 2025 recruiting class was among the best in FGCU history. His energy and experience have helped guide the Eagles to postseason success, while building a culture of toughness and accountability.
Head Swimming and Diving Coach
Dave Rollins agreed to a three-year extension. Since joining the Eagles in 2016, Rollins has elevated the FGCU Swimming and Diving team's competitive profile, led his team to three conference championships and produced numerous NCAA qualifiers while maintaining a strong academic culture.
Head Beach Volleyball Coach
Chris Sweat also saw his contract extended by three years. Sweat was the 2025 and 2022 ASUN Coach of the Year, and has twice led the Eagles to the Atlantic Sun Conference Tournament finals. He has two 20-win seasons at FGCU, including a school-record 29 victories in 2022.
Head Women's Golf Coach
Shannon Sykora has signed a three-year extension. Under Sykora's leadership, the Eagles won their first Atlantic Sun Conference Championship, advanced to an NCAA Regional for the first time and had the school's first-ever NCAA Championship individual qualifier in 2024-25. Sykora was named ASUN Coach of the Year last season as well.
"We are thrilled to extend the contracts of these outstanding coaches," Hargis said. "This group, along with our entire coaching staff, demonstrates incredible leadership, dedication to student-athlete development, and commitment to FGCU's values, which makes each of them integral to our continued success."
