Erica Muhizi was named Atlantic Sun Conference Defensive Player of the Week. The accolade comes after Muhizi helped the Eagles post victories over FIU and UNF and a strong defense versus Jacksonville.The award is FGCU's fifth weekly honor this season and the third for Muhizi.
Muhizi closed out the week with 19 total blocks over the three matches and also chipped in eight kills. Against FIU on Tuesday, she posted four blocks and five kills. In the Friday match versus North Florida, the middle blocker notched two aces, added five blocks and had three kills. On Sunday against Jacksonville, she recorded a whopping nine blocks.
Muhizi and the Eagles head to face Queens (N.C.) Friday for a 6 p.m. first serve.
