FORT MYERS, Fla. – Shoki Yoshida from men's soccer and Katharina Oelschlaeger from women's soccer have been named the Florida Gulf Coast University Suncoast Credit Union Scholar-Athletes of the Month for August.
A senior from Hyogo, Japan, Yoshida is pursuing a degree in entrepreneurship and currently has a 4.0 GPA. On the field, Yoshida scored a goal in FGCU's draw with the University of South Florida. He has played a total of 374 minutes this season for the Green & Blue.
Oelschlaeger is majoring in psychology and has posted a 3.85 GPA. On the pitch, the senior from Meerbusch, Germany, scored twice for FGCU in a 4-1 win at DePaul. She has played 264 minutes so far this season for the Eagles.
This is the fourth year Suncoast Credit Union has been the title sponsor of the FGCU Athletics Scholar-Athletes of the Month. The award dates back to the 2011-12 season.
