FORT MYERS, Fla. -- In an extraordinary display of generosity and community spirit, FGCU Athletics is proud to announce that its premier fundraising event, Night at the Nest, has raised over $1 million in gross revenue, a best-ever result. This marks a historic achievement for the organization and reflects the incredible support from donors, sponsors, and the Southwest Florida community. All proceeds go towards student-athlete scholarships.
The 14th annual Night at the Nest gala Dec. 6 sold out for the eighth consecutive year. Total revenue set a new record, surpassing the $766,000 raised at the event in 2023. Since 2010, Night at the Nest has generated $7.6 million cumulatively.
"This record-setting fundraising event is a testament to the incredible dedication and generosity of all those involved," said FGCU director of athletics Colin Hargis. "Surpassing $1 million in gross revenue for the first time in department history is an extraordinary achievement that will have a lasting impact on our student-athletes and programs. We could not have reached this milestone without the hard work and commitment of our staff, volunteers, and Eagles Nation."
Approximately 200 live and silent auction items accounted for nearly $660,000, bolstered by online bidding by fans not in attendance. In addition to the auction items, the event generated $175,000 in donations, $76,000 in admission revenue and $93,000 in sponsorship revenue.
The FGCU Athletics Board, the official advisory board of FGCU Athletics, plays an integral role in organizing, promoting and contributing to the success of the gala. Its chairman, Dr. Bob Ryan of Bonita Bay, also served as Night at the Nest chairman.
"Thanks to the great support from the entire Southwest Florida area, we have achieved a level of success that was unimaginable when I first became involved 12 years ago," said Ryan. "This was an entire team effort and what a great feeling it is to know how we are enhancing resources and opportunities for FGCU student athletes."
WINK News co-anchor Lois Thome — one of Southwest Florida's most well-known media personalities — once again emceed the event. Local celebrity Jay Severson served as auctioneer.
