OXFORD, Ala. -
Riley Oakes capped off her team-leading 17th multi-hit game with a walk-off single up the middle against the University of North Alabama on Wednesday.
Angelina Bonilla continued her record pace in the circle, only allowing four hits.
Oakes both started and finished the scoring on the day. In the first inning, Oakes got a ball over the head of the left fielder. The ball rolled to the deep left field wall, which is 225 all around at Choccolocco Park.
Avery Viancos put on the after burners and came around to score from first and Oakes celebrated on second base.
With a lead in hand, Bonilla went the next three innings without allowing a hit. Trouble arose in the top of the seventh when a lead off single was advanced to second on a sacrifice bunt. The runner would eventually come around to score.
The Eagles knew they had to pick up their All-ASUN pitcher and put together a four-hit bottom of the seventh to advance to the ASUN Quarterfinals against No. 1 Eastern Kentucky.
EKU enters on a two-round bye. They have the second worst strength of schedule in the ASUN and they have only thrown out five base runners on 45 attempts this season.
