FORT MYERS, Fla. - Florida Gulf Coast University softball had six players named to the All-ASUN team, the conference announced on Monday.
Neely Peterson (first team),
Avery Viancos (second team),
Angelina Bonilla (second team),
Riley Oakes (third team),
Nikki Gibson (third team), and
Allison Sparkman (third and freshman team) earned the honors.
Peterson earned the first team nod at catcher as a defensive weapon behind the plate, consistently stifling running games only having eight runners attempt to steal a base in conference.
Viancos was named to the second team after being named to the All-Academic team earlier in the day. Viancos is tied for the second most stolen bases in conference play and is sixth in batting average and fourth in on base percentage in conference play. Bonilla has been dominant from the circle, throwing a no-hitter against Queens while ranking third in the ASUN in ERA for the season.
The third team saw three Eagles with Oakes getting the honor after leading the league in triples both overall and in conference. Gibson was named to the third team after leading the conference in batting average heading into conference play. Sparkman was named to the third team while consistently topping the ASUN leaderboards in all pitching stats. She was also named unanimously to the All-Freshman team.
The Green and Blue start the ASUN Tournament on Wednesday as the four seed against either No. 5 North Alabama or No. 8 Austin Peay.
