FORT MYERS, Fla. –
Ida Ferding from women's tennis and
Pablo Paternostro from men's tennis have been named the Florida Gulf Coast University Suncoast Credit Union Scholar-Athletes of the Month for April.
Ferding helped the Eagles advance to the championship match of the Atlantic Sun Conference Women's Tennis Tournament. In the semifinals, she earned a 6-4, 4-6, 6-0 win to help the Eagles recover from a deficit after the doubles point and clinch a spot in the title match. In the classroom, Ferding has a 4.0 GPA with a major in engineering. She also earned a spot on the ASUN Women's Tennis All-Academic Team.
Paternostro helped anchor the No. 3 singles position for the Eagles during the 2024 season. Against Eastern Kentucky University in ASUN play, he battled to a 6-4, 6-7 (4), 6-2 win in singles and also teamed to win at No. 2 doubles with
Harry Michalowski. In the classroom, Paternostro has a 3.66 GPA as he works toward his degree in management.
The Scholar-Athletes of the Month award was established in the 2011-12 season. Suncoast Credit Union has sponsored the recognition for the past three years.
