FORT MYERS, Fla. - For the second time this season, FGCU and FIU met here at Swanson Stadium for a baseball game. For the second time, the game wouldn't be completed.
With lightning delaying warm-ups and the start of the game, in addition to rain moving in 30 minutes after the scheduled first pitch time, Wednesday night's baseball game between the Eagles and Golden Panthers was canceled. No information on if or when the game will be made up was immediately available.
Back on Apr. 2, the two teams met at Swanson Stadium for the second game a four-game season series between the two sides. After two innings of play with FGCU leading 6-3, a light tower at the stadium had a catastrophic failure. The game would be suspended and continued eight days later in Miami.
The Eagles will return to the field Friday to begin a key Atlantic Sun Conference series with Jacksonville. First pitch is set for 6:30 p.m.
