Florida Gulf Coast University's beach volleyball team performed strongly against two nationally ranked teams Saturday on the final day of the GSU Invitational in Atlanta, Georgia.
The Eagles (13-15, 3-2 ASUN) dropped a narrow 3-2 decision to Atlantic Sun Conference foe No. 17 Stetson University (16-7) and fell 4-1 against No. 8Â Louisiana State University (16-9).
Shelby Beisner and
Trinity Rosales picked up two impressive wins on the day both on court No. 1 against Stetson and LSU.

"Consistency will be our main focus as we close the season next weekend," said head coachÂ
Chris Sweat." We looked great at certain times in the game and all the girls know what they are capable of and how good they can be."

The Hatters started the day with victories on court No. 5 and 4. Still, the Eagles got on the scoreboard as
Kacie Johnson and
Emma Soncrant won 21-15, 22-20 on court No. 3. Stetson immediately responded with
Nicole De Oliveira and
Kaitlyn Luebbers dropping their match 21-16

, 15-13 Â on court No.2.
Beisner and Rosales got the final point for the  Eagles on court No. 1, winning 21-19, 21-17 against Tori Clement and Shae Henson.
In the second match of the day the Tigers won on court No. 4, 5, and 3 to clinch the match before adding another point from court No. 2.
Beisner and Rosales won the first set 25-23 and dropped the second 26-28. The No. 1 FGCU pair kept the fight going and stormed to a 15-12 victory in the final set.

FGCU will return to action for its final regular season tournament and head to the FAU (14-13) Invite in Boca Raton, Florida. The Eagles will first take on the host Saturday at 11:30 a.m.Â
