FORT MYERS, Fla. -
Allison Sparkman threw a complete game shutout, the first for Florida Gulf Coast University since
Angelina Bonilla last year. This win marks number 750 in FGCU program history.
Riley Oakes went 3-for-4 on the day and recorded at least one RBI on every hit en route to a four-RBI game.
"I was having my pitcher's back all the way," Oakes said. "[Sparkman] was on the mound absolutely killing it so I knew I had to produce some runs to make sure she felt even more comfortable on the mound."
Sparkman would go the distance in the game. She pitched seven complete striking out six, four looking, and only allowing four hits.
"I feel like my defense really did that for me," Sparkman said. "We hit the ball really well tonight and I couldn't have done it without the support of all the pitchers on the staff tonight."
Tiffany Meek and
Olivia Black reach base safely in every at-bat on the night with Meek recording two hits and a walk and Black recording two walks. Black extends her team-leading on base streak to six games.
Emily Chiarella walked twice, extending her on base streak to five games.
The Green and Blue have extended their winnings streaks when scoring at least six, stealing at least three bases, scoring first, and leading after four complete, to 37, 21, 12, and 12, respectively.
Up next for the Eagles is the Spring Break Classic from March 8-10. Tickets are very limited.
