Florida Gulf Coast University's beach volleyball team delivered a 3-2 upset victory Saturday against No. 13 FIU on the final day of the TCU Invitational. It was the second victory for the Eagles against the Panthers in program history.
The other victory occurred back on March 17, 2023, in South Beach, Florida where the Green and Blue also won with a 3-2 score.

"We had so many hard-fought games yesterday, it was nice to come away with a win against a ranked opponent today," said head coach
Chris Sweat. "They gave us all we could handle, so I'm glad we came out on top. Looking forward to a great week of practice."
Jaci Carpenter and
Mia Thompson got the day started for the Eagles winning 22-20, 21-19 on court No. 4.
Skylar English and
Sydney Majick followed along, earning another point for the Green and Blue with a 21-16, 21-18 showing on court No. 5.
The Panthers finally got on the scoreboard as
Kacie Johnson and
Emma Soncrant dropped their match 21-18, 21-17.
All the attention would be on court No. 3 as
Nicole De Oliveira and
Kaitlyn Luebbers lost their first set 12-21 but stormed to a 21-12, 18-16 victory to clinch the match for the Eagles.
Shelby Beisner and
Trinity Rosales were the last pair to finish dropping the first set and forcing a third but ultimately fell 21-16 16-21 15-11 as the Eagles still sealed a 3-2 victory.
FGCU will now head to the Georgia State Tournament that will begin Friday as the Eagles first take on host Georgia State at 10:30 a.m.
