Florida Gulf Coast University's beach volleyball team competed against two nationally ranked teams Friday in Pompano Beach, Florida.

The Eagles (9-9) fell 4-1 against No. 5 Texas Christian University (13-1) and versus No. 12 Florida International University (9-6).

Kaitlyn Luebbers and Nicole De Oliveira showed why they were named ASUN Pair of the Week as the duo won their match against the Horned Frogs with a 26-24, 22-20 score and defeated the Panthers 11-21, 21-12, 16-14 on court No. 3.

"We had our chances against some of the best players in the country," said head coach Chris Sweat. "A bunch of two-point losses today makes it tough to look back and see some plays you wish you could redo.
 
"I was very impressed with Kaitlyn and Nicole with how they closed out games against top teams like TCU with FIU."
  
Emma Soncrant and Kacie Johnson challenged TCU despite falling 21-17, 21-19 at court No. 2 and Lilly Hafner and Sydney Majick remained close before ultimately dropping their match 21-19, 21-17.
 
The Eagles are home Wednesday for Senior Day hosting Palm Beach Atlantic (9-8) at noon and No. 16  FAU (9-6) at 4 p.m.
