Eagles host Bellarmine in Homecoming contest

FORT MYERS, Fla. - Florida Gulf Coast University's men's basketball team will look to pick up an important Atlantic Sun Conference win Saturday evening as the Eagles play host to Bellarmine University. Tipoff in the Homecoming contest is set for 7 p.m. and will be available for streaming on ESPN+.

The Eagles (10-15, 4-6 ASUN) are coming off a pair of tough losses on the road and will look to right the ship in the ASUN standings. Wednesday night, the Eagles trailed by 17 in the second half before cutting the deficit all the way down to five against Eastern Kentucky; however, EKU eventually pulled out a 90-82 win. Last Saturday, the Eagles dropped a heartbreaking 70-69 contest at North Alabama as FGCU had a chance to tie or win the game within the final 1.6 seconds.

The Green & Blue are looking to move closer to clinching a bid to the ASUN Championship. FGCU is in a four-way tie for seventh place with Central Arkansas, Kennesaw State, and Queens. Following Saturday's game, only five games will remain in the league's regular season.

Bellarmine (6-19, 2-8 ASUN) is trying to regain its footing in the conference. After starting ASUN play 0-6, the Knights defeated Jacksonville 69-63 for their first win in league play. A 96-95 victory in overtime at Kennesaw State gave the Knights their second win, but Bellarmine has since lost to Stetson and Queens. Bellarmine is two games out of a qualifying position for the ASUN Championship.
