FGCU set to open Swanson Stadium for 2024

FORT MYERS, Fla. - After playing its first four games away from home, Florida Gulf Coast University will open up Swanson Stadium for the 2024 baseball season Friday night at 6:30 p.m. as the Eagles play host to Bethune-Cookman University.

The Eagles (0-4) played Wednesday night in North Port at CoolToday Park, dropping a 5-2 decision to Indiana State University. FGCU's pitching staff had its best outing of the young season, allowing just four earned runs while striking out a dozen Sycamore batters. FGCU batters were unable to duplicate the success of the previous weekend at No. 5 Texas Christian, however, as no player had more than one hit.

Ian Farrow continued his RBI streak when he drove in a run in the fifth inning. The senior has driven in at least one run in all four games this season. He also added his first steal of the season in the contest.

Bethune-Cookman started the season taking two games from Stonehill College. Tuesday night, the Wildcats earned a 10-4 win over Florida International at home. This weekend marks the first road series of the season for B-CU.

As a team, B-CU is batting .262 entering Swanson Stadium. Garrett Chun is the team's leading hitter in the early season with a .462 average and a team-best six RBI.

All home games this season are slated to be available via ESPN+.
