FORT MYERS, Fla. - FGCU women's tennis was named an All-Academic Team by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Monday. Seven Eagles were also named ITA Scholar-Athletes.
"The ladies have worked very hard on their academics," head coach
Courtney Vernon said. "They deserve to be recognized for their work, along with their support staff of Janet Holtfreter and also their professors who help them achieve their goals."
Over 1,500 Division I women student-athletes were named ITA Scholar-Athletes, and 234 women's tennis programs garnered All-Academic Team distinction in 2023. To be named an ITA All-Academic Team, programs must post a cumulative grade point average of 3.2 or above (on a 4.0 scale) for the entire academic year.
The Green and Blue held a 3.66 GPA for the 2022-23 academic year. During the spring, FGCU posted its 23rd-straight semester GPA of 3.5 or higher (3.74).
The following Eagles were recognized as 2023 ITA Scholar-Athletes:

, Lola Glantz (
Lueneburg, Germany Carl-Friedrich-Gauß-Schule)
, Gabriela Macias (
Barranquilla, Colombia/Colegio Fontan)
, Fanny Norin (
Stockholm, Sweden/Thoren Business School) and
Jordana Ossa (
Miami, Florida/John A. Ferguson Senior High School/University of Wisconsin).
To be named an ITA Scholar-Athlete, a student-athlete must hold a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher (on a 4.0 scale) for the academic year.
Bardet, Ferding, Norin and Ossa were also named on the 2023 College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic list. On the courts in 2023, FGCU registered a 16-7 overall record and a 6-2 mark in league play.
Vernon also directed the Eagles to a ranked team status as one of the ITA's top 75 women's tennis programs, coming in at No. 70.
Two Eagles earned ASUN honors. Norin was named All-Conference First Team and
Bardet was named to the All-Conference Second Team.
